DCABLE BRACING SYSTEM FOR TALL BUILDINGS

چکیده
Selection of wind force resisting system is an important decision in the design tall buildings, especially for those located hurricane prone regions. Rigid frames, shear walls, braced framed tube, bundled tube and hybrid are common structural forms used to resist lateral forces produced due wind. Cables have a great potential be as element. Cable stayed hanging bridges guyed towers applications cables. Not much work has been done use cables bracing buildings against movement by natural like earthquakes. This research proposes external cable which may future high-rise structures. A sixty story building analyzed speed recommended Miami, FL., USA., using wall proposed system. Comparison performance two systems presented establish suitability part system.

OPTIMUM DESIGN OF TMD SYSTEM FOR TALL BUILDINGS
High tall buildings are more susceptible to dynamic excitations such as wind and seismic excitations. In this paper, design procedure and some current applications of tuned mass damper (TMD) were studied. TMD was proposed to study response of 20 storey height building to seismic excitations using time history analysis with and without the TMD. The study indicates that the response of structur...
متن کاملAerodynamic Loads on Tall Buildings: Interactive Database
Under the action of wind, tall buildings oscillate simultaneously in the alongwind, acrosswind, and torsional directions. While the alongwind loads have been successfully treated using quasi-steady and strip theories in terms of gust loading factors, the acrosswind and torsional loads cannot be treated in this manner, since these loads cannot be related in a straightforward manner to the fluctu...
متن کاملAerodynamic Admittance Function of Tall Buildings
The aerodynamic admittance function (AAF) has been widely invoked to relate wind pressures on building surfaces to the oncoming wind velocity. In current practice, strip and quasi-steady theories are generally employed in formulating wind effects in the along-wind direction. These theories permit the representation of the wind pressures on building surfaces in terms of the oncoming wind velocit...
متن کاملEstimating Fundamental Frequencies of Tall Buildings
Empirical estimates of the fundamental frequency of tall buildings vary inversely with their height, a dependency not exhibited by the various familiar models of beam behavior. This paper examines and explains this apparent discrepancy by analyzing the consequences of using two models to estimate such natural frequencies: A two-beam model that couples the bending of a classical cantilever to th...
متن کاملDesign of Tall Buildings – Preliminary Design
The design of tall buildings essentially involves a conceptual design, approximate analysis, preliminary design and optimization, to safely carry gravity and lateral loads. The design criteria are, strength, serviceability, stability and human comfort. The strength is satisfied by limit stresses, while serviceability is satisfied by drift limits in the range of H/500 to H/1000. Stability is sat...
